Lion

Lion was born to a litter of five in South Africa. His father was a senior executive within the A4M and as such, he was required to relocate to the most aging borough of the world – Staten Island. This is where Lion was raised as a vegetarian. After a few years, Lion’s parents retired and moved back to the Ko-Ka Tsara Game Reserve in South Africa. Against tradition, Lion stayed to pursue an education in real estate. He and his siblings return to the KKT on occasion to visit. As an undergrad at the BKLN Property Management Institute Of Technology, Lion struggled. His natural urges to become King of the [concrete] Jungle along with his learned-western-capitalistic desires of wealth and influence led him to renounce his real estate dreams for a quicker, more-desirable, easier life–The life of a musician. He never told his parents.
He started playing the shaker for the Gowanus band, Sludgie The Whale, and received critical acclaim for their single, “Dolphins On Union Street”, which went platinum after only three weeks. Lion adored the attention, but felt creatively restricted so he broke away and joined the band, Pissed Off Princess Party, or POPP, as they were more commonly known. He, along with a few other members of POPP would later form Rock N’ Roll Baby Lullaby Ensemble, or “RNRB”, as recognized within industry circles. RNRB continues to be Lion’s greatest personal success – Over 23 full-length albums and lots of positive reviews on Amazon. His parents still don’t know about his music career, nor do they know that he is no longer vegetarian.

Ape

Ape came to America as an exchange student from Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda in 2007. Her parents were in the entertainment industry and starred in the feature film, Gorillas In The Mist. With a liberal upbringing in the arts, Ape was drawn to music and grew into an incredibly well-rounded musician.

She worked as a bartender at Ginger’s Bar in Park Slope, Brooklyn, but earned a decent living as a studio musician and advertising composer when the work was there. For five years Ape played the lead guitar in a relatively successful Christian Rock Band called Come To Jesus and received critical acclaim for their single, “In A Garden Of Eden” (which RNRB would one day cover), though she would later be kicked out once it’s members learned of her belief in evolution.

Ape joined POPP in 2012 and soon became the primary songwriter. She is an extremely talented, intelligent, and strong woman and is a role model and mentor to both Elephant, and countless fans.

Giraffe

Giraffe was born and raised in Brooklyn and worked as a server at The Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club in Gowanus where Sludgie The Whale first performed what would later become their smash hit, “Dolphins On Union Street”.

He always dreamt of becoming a respected bassist and regularly played open-mic nights at Sir D’s Coffee Shop across the street from the famed Park Slope Food Coop. Though talented, Giraffe struggled with low self-esteem and found it difficult to cultivate meaningful relationships with humans. One evening at Sir D’s, POPP’s manager was enjoying a cocktail when Giraffe was called upon to perform. His dexterity was astonishing, all things considered, and it was clear that POPP had found their new bassist. Giraffe fit in fairly well with the other members and felt accepted amongst his fellow quadrupeds. The transition from rock band to RNRB’s lullaby ensemble was a welcomed change for Giraffe, as he felt it grounded Elephant and humbled Lion.

Elephant

Elephant is a a modern-day princess. She is the daughter of The Elephant King, Babaart. Her mother, The Queen, is lovely but is also her first cousin once removed which is strangely okay with everyone.
Her upbringing was privileged but writhe with scandal. She met Lion when she was just a calf – he was a King among cubs…
In learning of Lion’s imminent emigration, Elephant became detached – and soon, self-destructive. Her spirit of adventure and rebellion lived strong, however, and so one day, without her parents’ blessing, she packed her trunk and left for New York City via cargo ship. Eight weeks later Elephant stepped off the ship and onto the majestic landscape of Newark, NJ.
Her various bank accounts would afford her the luxury to which she was accustom and as such, she was able to buy a nice studio apartment in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, where she currently resides. She is a classically trained percussionist and had no trouble slotting her way into a local act called Melody Lanes before being called up to play drums for POPP’s full US & Canadian tour.
POPP would achieve moderate success but never to the extent that their manager had hoped. Rock n’ Roll Baby Music was the brainchild of their manager and is considered to be the preeminent baby music brand.
